'i raise my hands to heaven of curiosity
i don't know what to ask for

what has it got for me?

the others say we're hiding
it's as forward as can be
some things i do for money

some things i do for free'

'in that most precious
instant, i shall take all words that ever were,
or weren't, or could, or couldn't be, and in
mad armfuls, not bouquets, i'll smother you in them.
oh god, how i love you, i choke with love, i
stumble in madness, tread a fiery region
where reason is consumed, i love you beyond
the limits that love sets himself, i love,
i love.'

- spoken by cyrano in the play 'cyrano de bergerac' by edmond rostand

had i the heavens' embroidered cloths,
enwrought with golden and silver light,
the blue and the dim and the dark cloths
of night and light and the half-light,
i would spread the cloths under your feet:
but i, being poor, have only my dreams;
i have spread my dreams under your feet;
tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.

'I live alone, entirely alone. I never speak to anyone, never; I receive nothing, I give nothing… When you live alone you no longer know what it is to tell something: the plausible disappears at the same time as the fiends. You let events flow past; suddenly you see people pop up who speak and who go away, you plunge into stories without beginning or end: you make a terrible witness. But in compensation, one misses nothing, no improbability or, story too tall to be believed in cafes.'

- excerpt from 'nausea' by jean-paul sartre.

(i ordered this book about a week ago online after i couldnt find it in any bookstores around here. i really long to read it, im growing a bit impatient)

(it is my feeling that the knife should be listened to in a dark room with people you like. listening to the knife is a new spiritual awakening/revival each and every time)

today was a good learning day classwise & otherwise.

in my south asian art history class our professor made a really relevant point about photography that i hadn't really ever explicitly linked. that point was that with the rise of photography came the rise of darker scenes of reality - famine, poverty, etc. she showed us this photograph above of the madras famine in the late 19th century taken by willoughby hooper. its a really powerful image that really acts as a call to action. she also made a good point about poverty that i thought was really insightful, saying that famine is a visible message that there is poor policy in the land as the land that should be used to help feed the poor is being allocated to different areas - namely for the economic benefit of those in power.

my grandfather, dziadzi
timeless
read this: our world may be a giant hologram

'According to Craig Hogan, a physicist at the Fermilab particle physics lab in Batavia, Illinois, GEO600 has stumbled upon the fundamental limit of space-time - the point where space-time stops behaving like the smooth continuum Einstein described and instead dissolves into "grains", just as a newspaper photograph dissolves into dots as you zoom in..."If the GEO600 result is what I suspect it is, then we are all living in a giant cosmic hologram."'

(possible proof that its all a beautiful illusion, but we knew it all along)
'my thought is me: that is why i cannot stop thinking. i exist because i think i cannot keep from thinking.'

somewhere i have never travelled,gladly beyond
any experience,your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully,mysteriously)her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully ,suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility:whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens;only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody,not even the rain,has such small hands
